Attendant’s Code of Conduct

    Your priority is to ensure that passengers who may be in some way vulnerable and who need supervision and assistance can travel safely with you in the vehicle.

  • Your personal ID badge of Sherwood must be worn at all times.
  • This may seem obvious but appearing NEAT and TIDY to not only parents/carers but also to a Local Authority personnel and having a professional approach to everyone concerned is very important.
  • If you are late you must telephone the office immediately so that the driver, client and the Local Authority can be informed.
  • You must telephone the office if you are ill or have an unavoidable reason why you cannot do the run giving a minimum of 24hrs notice.
  • Smoking is strictly forbidden in the vehicle. You are also not permitted to smoke in the perimeter of the Schools, Day Centres and Hospitals.
  • Collects the passenger from their door and escort them to the vehicle from the kerbside. Make sure that you are sitting with the passenger in the rear seat and that their seat belts are properly fastened. Know your passengers name.
  • It is your job to look after the safety of the passenger at all times. The windows and doors should be checked to ensure that they are secure and that the child locks are ON AT ALL TIMES. Your mobile phone should also be switched ON AT ALL TIMES.
  • Please note that the passenger you are accompanying has a disability of some sort. If you are experiencing some difficulty with the passenger then please call the office immediately who will then notify the Local Authority. Do also mention the incident to the parents/carers.
  • If the passenger becomes distressed and is obviously unwell, notify the office immediately.
  • Check that your passenger is comfortable and happy before you depart. It is a good idea to converse with your passenger to reassure them and never offer or allow your passenger anything to eat or drink as there full medical condition is not known to you and could prove fatal to them.
  • Never leave your passenger unattended at anytime in the vehicle.
  • Do not discuss any personal matters of any nature in front of the passenger.
  • Only passengers authorized by Sherwood are permitted to travel in the vehicle.
  • Take your passenger to the destination and do not leave them until you have handed them over to an adult (+16 year old). If in doubt, call the office BEFORE you hand over the child to anyone other than the relevant person and WAIT in the vehicle with your passenger and the driver while you await further instructions from the office.
  • Never leave your passenger with any neighbour unless authorized by the office.
  • As the Attendant you are expected to communicate with the parents/carers and teaching staff were appropriate. You may be asked to pass on verbal messages, written notes or safeguard items such as luggage or medication. Please ensure that these messages/items or notes are passed on to the relevant people.


Agreement

  • You have read the attached Code of Conduct and agree to adhere to it.
  • This particular school run you have accepted will run for a minimum of one whole school term or until further notice.
  • You must give no less than 24 hours prior notice if you are unable to do your allocated school run.
  • Under no circumstances you permitted to take time off for holidays during term time [excluding any emergency]. Failure to comply with this will leave us with no alternative but to terminate your allocated run.
  • Payments will be made four week’s in arrears at a rate of £ . per trip No deductions of Income Tax or National Insurance Contribution will be made.
  • Payments will be made either by cheque or Bank Transfer. We do not make payments in cash.
  • There will be a charge of £25 as a deposit for the I.D badge which will be refunded when your I.D badge has been returned back to the office. The I.D Badge given to you is the property of Sherwood T Group and must be returned when you cease working with us.
